MEET OUR PRESIDENT

Mr. Mike Galloway

Mike Galloway was appointed President / CEO of the Florida United Methodist Children's Home effective July 31, 2006. He previously served as President & CEO of the United Methodist Children’s Home of Alabama and West Florida. Mike is a professional social worker with a BA and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Alabama. He has also completed extensive post-graduate training in management and leadership, including an executive leadership program at Harvard University and is a graduate of the Center for Faith Based Leadership.

Mike has 40+ years of professional social work and human services management experience. He has previously served as Executive Director of several public and private child and family services organizations including the Alabama Alliance for the Mentally Ill. He served as Management and Program Consultant and on the Boards of numerous non-profit organizations. Mike has conducted professional development seminars for Dale Carnegie Training, specializing in leadership, team building and executive development and has taught at three colleges and universities.

Mike has received numerous awards, including Jaycees Young Religious Leader, Golden Eagle Award from the Alabama Senior Citizens Hall of Fame, the Commissioner’s Merit Award from the Alabama Department of Human Resources, and is a graduate of Leadership Selma.

Mike is an active member of the United Methodist Association and a Certified Peer Reviewer with the UMA’s EAGLE Accreditation Commission. He is a member of the UMA Board of Directors and chairs the Board Committee on Membership. Mike is also an active member of the Florida Coalition for Children, a member of the Board of Directors and is co-chair of their Governance and Leadership Committee.

He is an active United Methodist, a popular speaker and Bible teacher. He and his wife Myra have two daughters and eight grandchildren.

The Florida United Methodist Children's Home was founded in 1908 as an orphanage and has developed into one of the premiere child and family service agencies in the United States. It is accredited through the Council on Accreditation and EAGLE, the highest accreditation awarded by United Methodists for its agencies.
